ASHTAPADI
Ashtapadi forms an integral component of the Sampradaya Bhajan tradition. During the Kalyana Utsavam, the Ashtapadi corresponding to the presiding deity is rendered. Among the earliest and most revered compositions is Jayadeva’s Ashtapadi, which poetically illustrates the divine union of Lord Krishna, representing the Paramātma (Supreme Soul), and Rādhā, symbolizing the Jīvātma (individual soul). The term Ashtapadi literally translates to “eight stanzas,” with each song comprising eight charanams (verses). The following compilation presents the texts of all the Ashtapadis.
